What is allowed, what is not, and what happens if you break the rules

1. Why these rules exist

15 Minutes is a place where you have 15-minute conversations with people you do not know. That only feels safe if everyone follows the same basic rules.

These guidelines form an integral part of the Terms of Service; breaching them leads to sanctions on your account.

They apply equally to posts and comments and to one-to-one conversations. "It was a private message" is not a defence.

2. Absolutely prohibited

The following lead to permanent closure on a single instance, and are reported to the authorities where required:

  • Any content, suggestion or solicitation involving the sexual exploitation of children
  • Any attempt at sexual communication with a minor, or grooming behaviour
  • Sharing intimate images without consent, or threatening to do so (sextortion)
  • Content praising terrorism, mass violence or hate crimes, or calling for support of such organisations
  • A specific threat of violence against a person
  • Content relating to human trafficking, organ trafficking and comparable serious crimes

3. Prohibited behaviour

  • Harassment, insults, humiliation, persistent unwanted contact, targeting
  • Hate speech and discrimination: race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability
  • Sending unsolicited sexual messages or images
  • Sharing pornographic or obscene material
  • Encouraging suicide or self-harm, or describing methods
  • Impersonation, or using someone else's photo on your profile
  • Sharing another person's personal information without consent (doxxing), or publishing private conversations
  • Fraud, investment scams, fake fundraising, phishing links
  • Spam, bulk promotion, referral links and automated messages
  • Selling or promoting drugs, weapons, forged documents, prescription medicines and similar illegal goods
  • Creating fake or bulk accounts, or a replacement account after being blocked
  • Sharing graphic violent imagery for shock value

4. What is expected in a 15-minute chat

The other person starts out anonymous, just as you do. Deciding to reveal your identity is entirely yours — do not pressure anyone into it.

If someone says no to a subject, drop it. Ending a conversation is always legitimate.

Taking a screenshot of a conversation and spreading it outside the app is a breach of the rules.

Report anyone who asks you for money, gift cards, crypto or personal financial details; this is almost always a scam.

The moment you feel uncomfortable you can close the chat, block the user and report them. You do not have to explain why.

5. Reporting and blocking

Every post, comment, message and profile can be reported. Blocking someone stops them messaging you or seeing your content.

Reports are reviewed when they reach us; reports of objectionable content are assessed within 24 hours at the latest.

Your identity is never disclosed to the person you report.

If there is an immediate risk to life, call your local emergency number first — reporting is not an emergency service.

Sending false or malicious reports is itself a breach of the rules.

6. Sanctions

Depending on severity and repetition:

  • Removal of the content and a warning
  • Temporary restriction of specific features (posting, messaging, matching)
  • Temporary suspension of the account
  • Permanent closure of the account

These steps do not apply to the breaches in section 2; those lead directly to permanent closure.

The holder of a permanently closed account may not open a new one.

7. Appeals

If you disagree with a decision about you, appeal from the message that notified you or from Settings > Help and feedback.

Your appeal is reconsidered in a fresh assessment that is not made by whoever took the first decision, and the outcome is communicated to you.

The appeal process does not remove your statutory rights to apply to an authority or bring a claim.

8. Age

15 Minutes is for people aged 18 and over.

Accounts found to belong to someone under 18 are closed and their data deleted.

If you believe a user is under 18, report them or tell us at 15minutessupport@ryujinlabs.com.
